Whether in relationship or at a job, everyone wants to be wanted.
Because my dad was a military chaplain, I have lived in many places. I’ve met many different kinds of people and seen a variety of unique places. Through it all, I have always wanted, even needed, to feel “wanted” wherever I went. During the times that I didn’t feel wanted, I left my true self behind and tried to become someone else. But it never turned out as I hoped or expected.
Somewhere along that journey, from place to place, through the changing versions of myself, I realized that there actually was somebody who made me feel wanted. Wanted, loved, and even special. It wasn’t a stranger, a friend, a family member, or even a romance. Cliché or not, this somebody who finally showed me that I was truly wanted, that I really belonged, is named Jesus. And what I found out was that He doesn’t care how many places you have lived or what you’ve done along the way. He loves me – He loves you – no matter what. That’s heavy, yet so liberating.
Ever since I came to Stormwalker Ranch, I have felt wanted, loved, cared for. In the past, in previous jobs, I felt a little wanted and loved here and there. But not like this place, here on the Ranch. This place, every day we focus on helping horses to help people. That help goes both ways.
I am comforted and reassured when I read verses in the Bible like Jeremiah 31:3, where God says, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore, I have continued my faithfulness to you.”
And when I am made to see how intimately God knows and loves me:
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful; I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” – Psalm 139:13-16
No matter where you live or who you connect with, there is only One who offers to love you no matter what. There is only One whose arms are open wide, and you are always welcome. Will you run to His open arms today and let Him love you with an everlasting love? With Jesus, you are now and will always be…wanted!
