Soft Feel Approach

I am guessing that there are those of you who will identify when I say that my life has been filled with many disappointments. Church, marriage, broken trust, health, money, daily purpose…so many things in my life have not gone as imagined.

These deep disappointments and my attempts to compensate in my own ways swept me along a painful road, until I finally recognized God calling me home, to Bartlesville. Yes, but even more, back to my home in Him.

Upon returning to the area, I started volunteering at Stormwalker Ranch. The Ranch has adopted a “Soft Feel” approach to horsemanship that is taught throughout their riding lesson and clinic programs. “Soft Feel” produces a connection, a partnership between you and your horse. It became clear to me that this is the approach that God has used to get me to this place and through it to re-establish my spiritual relationship with Him.

Every day I have spent at Stormwalker has enriched my spiritual longing to know God again.  The wonderful people, my love of horses, and the spiritual atmosphere surrounding the Ranch creates a path to a sense of joy, self-worth, and the presence of God. l was led to Stormwalker so God could show me my passion, the need for me to know His Word, and surround me with people who have a healthy relationship with God. It was these people who, in turn, taught me soft feel in our relationships.

I am reminded that God didn’t send Jesus to save the “perfect”. Jesus didn’t endure the cross for those who “have it all together”. The Son of God was given so that all of us who were lost could return home, for there is no other way. This broke God’s heart so much that He came to us and paid the price for us. Whenever we find ourselves lost in life, we can turn to the cross and remember that Jesus points the way home, for He is the Way.

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” – Isaiah 41:10

I thank God for His amazing power and work in my life. I thank Him for His goodness and blessings. I thank Him for the hope He brings through even the toughest of times, strengthening me for His purposes, for His great love and care, mercy and grace. Thank you, Father, that You are always with us, always guide us, and that You will never leave us. Amen!
